Jerry MacKenzie Obituary

Jerry Martin MacKenzie was born May 16, 1939, in Lincoln, Nebraska to John and Clara (Martin) MacKenzie, the youngest of two children and went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the age of 81.

As a young boy, Jerry attended Milford Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1957.  He enlisted into the US Marine Corp and served overseas in the Asian Pacific region. He was honorably discharged in October of 1960, returned to Nebraska and was employed as an iron worker with Anderson Construction in Lincoln.  Later, Jerry returned  and assumed responsibilities of his family farm until his retirement.  On June 18, 1976, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Schultz in Seward.  He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, baking, being outdoors, driving his truck and traveling with Kathy.  He especially loved spending time with his family.  Jerry was a very devout Christian and the Bible was his daily passion.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy, Seward, daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Steve Adams, Lincoln, Shirley and Warren Wood, Firestone, CO, five grandchildren and spouses, Ryan and Ashley Wood, Trever and McKinzee Adams, Ashley and Jed Gooras, Tori Adams and Taylor Adams,  four great-grandchildren, Addison and Jackson Wood, Daxon Adams and recently, Lexi Gooras, sisters-in-law, Barbara (Phil) Gigliotti, Warsaw, IN, Joann (Tom) Maly, Altoona, IA, a brother-in-law, Tom (Carol) Patak, Lincoln, a cousin, Doralee Burch, Ogallala,  two nephews, David and Gary Crane, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Crane.

A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020, at Lauber Funeral Home, Milford, with Pastor Scott Bruick officiating.  Interment will be in Ruby Cemetery, Rural Milford.  Memorials may be directed in care of the family for future designation.
