Nancy Lee Porteus peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at her home in Goehner, Nebraska at the age of 86.
She was born July 19, 1934, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Donald Luther and Hazel Hempstead. As a young girl, she moved to Washington State where she later became a graduate of Edmunds High School, graduating in 1950. Nancy furthered her education by attending the University of Washington, graduating as a dental hygienist, later working in the city of Seattle. Nancy moved to Maui, Hawaii in 1962 where she resided for over 55 years. Recently, Nancy moved to Nebraska to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Nancy loved to garden, travel, loved reading the bible and western novels and watching classic western tv shows. She also was an avid animal lover.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Hall and David Wales, Whidbey Island, WA, Laura and Jerry Schultz, Goehner, son and daughter-in-law, Mark DeRego and Kelsey Frost, Maui, Hawaii, 11 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, a host of other loved ones.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Troy in 2016.
Nancy’s wishes were for her to be cremated. Her family will have a private family memorial service near Broken Bow on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Memorials may be directed in care of the family for future designation.
